Biomedical Sciences is a key subject area encompassing all areas of biology related to human health and disease. This highly topical, dynamic area is continually advancing, contributing important benefits not only to the health of individuals and the nation but also to the economic activity of the global. The subject area includes those science programs whose primary focus is the biology of human health and disease and ranges from generic programs in biomedical sciences and human biology to more specialized or vocational programs in areas such as biomedical science, pharmacology, human physiology and human nutrition.

Higher Diploma in Biomedical Sciences
Faculty of Health Sciences has successfully initiated a Higher National Diploma in Biomedical Sciences. It is a professional pathway for students who are seeking to obtain higher qualifications up to degree level. Participants will greatly benefit from the experience of undergoing the educational programs offered by the Department of Biomedical Science, Faculty of Health Sciences, CINEC Campus, Malabe. This Higher National Diploma is designed for students to develop a good understanding of Biomedical Science in general and the importance of applying the knowledge and skills into the practice in the biomedical science field in Sri Lanka and other countries.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- G.C.E (A/L) Sri Lankan/ London minimum 2 passes at one sitting in the Bio Science stream (Biology, Chemistry and Physics subjects) with credit pass for English in G.C.E (O/L)/ or a simple pass for English in GCE (A/L) Sri Lanka /LondonandCompletion of the CINEC Advanced Certificate of Health Sciences (SLQF 2) (this is not necessary for students with 3 passes in AL in Bio Science Stream as mentioned above )Or
Recognized Diploma (NVQL 4) in Biomedical Science/ Medical Laboratory Science with credit pass for English in G.C.E (O/L) Sri Lanka /London.Or
Registered Medical laboratory technicians with recognized diploma (NVQL 4) in Biomedical Science/ Medical Laboratory Science and credit pass for English in G.C.E (O/L) Sri Lanka /London or simple pass for English in GCE (A/L)Sri Lanka /London
