B.Sc. (Hons) in Industrial Pharmaceutical Science

This degree is designed for students to develop a good understanding of industrial pharmacy in general and the importance of applying the knowledge and skills into the practice in the pharmaceutical industry in Sri Lanka and other countries. In the last decade, the rapid growth of the pharmaceutical industry had diversified the roles and functions of the industrial pharmacist. This degree program will cover the areas of manufacturing, development, marketing and distribution of drug products including quality assurance. The graduates will be familiar with pharmaceutical industry with the particular practice of their discipline. Principle amongst this will be the methodology of design and develop new drugs in both western and herbal products. Through the graduates of this program, it is expected that the pharmacy profession will greatly contribute to the development of quality, safe and cost-effective medicines which the people are in dire need of.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

G. C. E. A/L Bioscience Stream 3S passes (Local) or Edxcel/Cambrige with three passes in Biology stream. Above 3S passes for Biology, Physics and Chemistry, all in one sitting.

Higher Diploma in Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Sciences

The faculty of Health Sciences has successfully initiated a Higher National Diploma in Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science. It is a professional pathway for students who are seeking to obtain higher qualifications up to degree level. Participants will greatly benefit from the experience of undergoing the educational programs offered by the Department of Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science, Faculty of Health Sciences CINEC Campus, Malabe. This Higher National Diploma is designed for students to develop a good understanding of industrial pharmacy and cosmetic science in general and the importance of applying the knowledge and skills into the practice in the pharmaceutical industry and cosmetic science field in Sri Lanka and other countries.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • G.C.E (A/L) in Sri Lankan/ London with minimum of 2 passes in  (Biology, Chemistry and Physics subjects) with a credit pass for English in G.C.E (O/L) /or a simple pass for English in GCE (A/L) Sri Lankan/ London
    and
  • Completion of the CINEC Advanced Certificate of Health Sciences (SLQF 2) (this is not necessary for students with 3 passes in A/L in Bio Science Stream as mentioned above )
    Or
  • Recognized Diploma (NVQL 4/5) in Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical/ Cosmetic sciences with accredited work experience of minimum 1 year with credit pass for English in GCE (O/L) Sri Lanka /London

  • Sat for GCE (A/L) Sri Lankan/ London in Biology stream (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Agriculture) with a credit pass for English in G.C.E (O/L) /or a simple pass for English in GCE (A/L) Sri Lankan/ London 

                    or 

  • Sat for GCE (A/L) Sri Lankan/ London in Biosystem technology or Mathematics or Commerce or Arts stream with a credit pass for English in G.C.E (O/L) /or a simple pass for English in GCE (A/L) Sri Lankan/ London 

                   or 

  • Completed GCE (O/L) with a credit pass for English and a recognized advanced certificate in Pharmacy/ Pharmaceutical/ Cosmetic sciences (SLQF 2)  

                  and 

  • Completion of the CINEC Advanced Certificate of Health Sciences (SLQF 2) (this is not  necessary for students with 3 passes for A/L in Bio Science Stream as mentioned above or for students with Advanced Certificate course with SLQF 2 in Pharmacy/ Pharmaceutical/ Cosmetic sciences with GCE O/L as mentioned above) 

Advanced Certificate Course in Pharmacy Practice

This is a 150-hours Certificate Course in Pharmacy Practice offered by the Department of Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Sciences and the mission is to contribute to the field of pharmacy by producing trainers with knowledge and skills in the field of good pharmacy practice with competence, compassion and care.
